Travelling black is a whole different experience.
When travelling as a black person, it can be hella nerve-wracking. You never know how people are going to react to you. You never know how you are going to be treated.
We constantly find ourselves googling or YouTubing what it’s like to travel to a certain destination as a black person.
Today I’m answering that million dollar question.
The question that I get asked over and over again.

Last year I travelled a crazy amount, as I had set myself a goal to travel to 25 countries before I turned 25.

To appease my wanderlust at times when I’m not out exploring the world, I follow a number of travel pages on Instagram.
However, I found that a lot of the pages I was following only showed one type of traveller.
I rarely, if ever saw someone who looked like me. Someone that I could relate to.
That’s why I think it’s so important for black people to follow black travel Instagram pages. Although we may not (or rarely) be included in the mainstream pages, we have been able to create our own mainstream.

Natas, sangria, street art and stunning architecture. These are just a few reasons why anyone would fall in love with Lisbon.
I’ve been obsessed with Lisbon since I’d seen my fellow blogger, Maya’s beautiful pictures and vlog (check out her blog).
So when I saw that Ryanair was doing deals, there was no hesitation at all and at the end of January/beginning of February, I finally got to cross Lisbon off my bucket list!
So, did Lisbon live up to my expectations? Hell to the yes!
From being stalked by monkeys to falling off our floats. From exploring the beautiful Phi Phi islands to sipping coconuts on the beach.
Thailand was a crazy, fun dream and I wouldn’t change a thing.
