My Year Of Travel: 2019

December was a crazy busy month for me, so I never got a chance to really reflect on 2019.

If you asked me to describe 2019 in word, I would probably say “mehhhh”. But when I really think about it, yes there were many lows, but there were also many highs.

Just to name a few achievements (which I still can’t believe myself), in 2019, I had my first two press trips, worked with quite a few brands and successfully organised my first event for my other platform Black Travel Creators (check us out on Twitter and Instagram).

I’m also blessed to have been able to travel a few times last year. I revisited a few countries I had previously been to and I was able to cross off a few countries off my travel bucket list.

Here is my year of travel for 2019:

Nice in January

I travelled with strangers y’all! Some of them I had previously connected with on the internet and others I met for the first time at the airport right before we boarded our flight to Nice.

But do you know what? It was actually such a dope trip! It’s amazing how travel can bring people together and how strangers can become friends. I deffo need to travel with these amazing ladies again!

If you’re interested in day trips across Europe, check out Travel Eat Slay.

Copenhagen in February

In February, my other platform, Black Travel Creators (follow us on Twitter and Instagram) and Travel Eat Slay collaborated and organised a day trip to Copenhagen.

We brought together a group of travel lovers for a dope day of good food, exploring and good vibes all around.

Travel doesn’t have to be expensive y’all! I spent less than £100 for everything! That includes flights, transportation, food and activities, and Copenhagen isn’t the cheapest of destinations. If you want to see my Copenhagen cost breakdown, I shared it on Instagram.

Paphos in April

To celebrate my girl Tinuke’s birthday (check out her Love and Relationship Blog), a group of us travelled to Paphos in Cyprus to live our best lives.

So what id your girl can’t swim? I was out in Cyprus sitting on huge ass rocks at the beach feeling like a black mermaid lol ?????? (check out the pictures on Instagram).

Barbados in May

Yoooo guys! This was my first ever press trip and I still can’t believe it actually happened!

Your girl really got flewed out to Barbados and I had the best time imaginable!

I’ve got loads of Barbados content to come, but feel free to let me know if there’s something specific you would like to see.

If you want to find out how I secured my first press trip, I filmed a video sharing this so check it out.

Manchester in June

I wasn’t sure if I should include this since I didn’t actually leave the country, but travel is travel regardless of if you catch a flight or not and staycations are actually a vibe.

Exploring my own backyard is something that I’ve been meaning to do for a while. So when I had an event to attend in Manchester, I decided to stay the night, rather than returning that same day.

I treated myself to a stay in a nice hotel that has an infinity spa pool and it was exactly what I needed after a stressful few weeks organising my first ever event.

For anyone interested, the hotel was King Street Townhouse.

Sheffield in October

In my birthday month, I went on my second press trip!

While working with Visit England and Visit Sheffield, I went on a day trip to experience a microgap.

A microgap is all about experiencing gap year experiences in a few days. You don’t always have to catch a flight, you can explore your own backyard.

It was a really fun day out, I got to do some canoeing and it was also my first time doing standup paddleboarding. And yes, I actually stood up on the board. And no, I did not fall in the canal ?

Portugal in October

For my traditional birthday trip (I’m not trynna be in London on my birthday ????? ), I went to one of my fave countries – Portugal. I spent a week solo travelling around the Algarve.

I celebrated my birthday on my own for the first time in my life y’all! If you want to find out about my experience of solo travelling on my birthday, I have a blog post on this.

Also, check out my birthday self-photography shoot. Your girl slayedddd! If I do say so myself ?????

Riga in November

In November, I attended my first travel conference abroad. The Women in Travel Summit was a great opportunity to connect with some amazing people within the travel industry.

It was also amazing to spend a few days in Riga. By day, I was exploring the colourful city with its interesting history and by night, I was enjoying the hearty meals and several cups of mulled wine.

Latvia also happened to be my 30th country!! ?

Ghana in December

This trip was definitely one of the highlights of 2019. Going back to the Motherland is always an amazing experience and finally being able to cross Ghana off my bucket list was everything.

I lived my best, best life y’all and did enjoyment to the max! As I write this, I am wrapped up in a blanket in cold AF London wishing I was still in the sun living life without a care in the world.

Ghana content coming real soon y’all! Feel free to let me know if there’s anything you want me to include.

Well, that’s it y’all! I hope you all had a blessed 2019 and I wish you all the best for 2020!

Catch flights. Do you. And just live your best life.
